All my works composed for public projections are now made either in Cinema 32/42 or Ring 32/44/52 formats. You will find all the relative informations on this document.
you have access to or can build such a loudspeakers arrangement, you can dowload
the multichannel files directly from this link, and simply follow the channels mapping
and level calibration instructions.
But one of the advantages of a high spatial resolution
is that it can then be easily
downscaled to other less demanding formats, with minimal
loss. Of course, each time a channel is removed, clarity
and subtlety is replaced with some spatial fuzziness, which will also
lead to a narrower listening point.
me if your system is able to provide a minimum of :
16 channels, organized in two height levels, with at least
a center top speaker. An adaptation will be certainly possible.
The NHK 22.2 format benefits now of a large international
recognition : it is
a ITU-SMPTE standard (ITU-R BS.2159-6), and we can
logically hope that it will become more and more present in
the electroacoustic community during the next years.
You can download the pieces in Wave format, 24 channels / 24 bits / 48
kHz. The channel mapping follows the NHK specifications, as
shown above and in this picture.
The volume of all my pieces
is set according to the K-System in K-20 : a
digital reference level (-20 dBFS RMS pink noise) corresponds
to -83 dBSPL for each channel, at the average listening point. The
result is that my pieces often seem to be too quiet compared to
other ones if no proper calibration is done.
Some of my pieces that are possibly suitable to a dome arrangement
may be also available in 5th Order Ambisonics.
